La Quebrada

HIGH-DIVERS MAKING A SPLASH AT BLACKPOOL PLEASURE BEACH!

There’s a group of talented people making a real splash this summer at Blackpool Pleasure Beach!

La Quebrada, a troupe of six world-class high divers from Mexico, will be taking their first leap of faith this weekend. From July 7 to September 2, they will perform breath-taking dives in the shadow of the Big One roller coaster in front of a purpose-built grandstand.

Thousands of people will watch in awe as they dive from three platforms during the day and at night, as the summer nights get longer, they will be able to witness the dramatic “human torch” dive from more than 80ft into just three metres of water!

They will dive from heights of eight metres (26ft), 15m (48ft) and 25m (81ft), performing different styles of dives including a comedy section, cascade dives and a mass-dive which comprises all the team.

The name La Quebrada comes from the same name as the famous cliff in Mexico where the divers plied their trade before taking their world-renowned show across the globe.

All six divers have been part of the Mexican national Olympic diving team and have represented their country, winning gold medals and wowing judges the world over.

The show is free of charge for all Pleasure Beach Pass holders and guests buying Unlimited Ride Wristbands and will be performed at 3pm, 5pm and 7pm Sunday to Friday and 2pm, 4pm, 6pm and 8pm on Saturdays.

Managing Director of Blackpool Pleasure Beach, Amanda Thompson OBE, said: “We are all excited about La Quebrada as they truly are stunning athletes.

“Having seen them before on a number of occasions I am sure all the family will love their dives and will be amazed at how they can perform such amazing dives into such a small area.

“La Quebrada adds just another element of fun to our guest’s experience of Blackpool Pleasure Beach and we know people will talk about what they have seen and tell all their friends and family so they can come and see these fantastic divers too.”
