RICHARD REACHES 50 DAYS ON THE BIG ONE!
Blackpool Pleasure Beach’s resident roller coaster marathon man Richard Rodriguez has reached a major milestone!
On July 19 Richard notched up 50 days on the UK’s tallest roller coaster, the Big One, at Britain’s favourite amusement park.
This means he is almost halfway to completing his Big One Marathon Challenge when he must ride the Big One for 103 consecutive days which he started on May 31.
Under Guinness World Record rules the 54-year-old American is allowed just five minutes break time every hour but he is allowed to accumulate these for longer rest periods.
Richard said: “I’m delighted to reach this 50-day milestone, it’s been a tough month with the weather but the customers here at Blackpool Pleasure Beach have been a source of inspiration for me to keep going.
“Riding with thousands of people every day is fantastic, they keep me going with their kind words and good luck messages.
“I’m looking forward to the next 50 days now and pushing on throughout the summer months until sometime in September when I finally smash the world record!”
Guests visiting Blackpool Pleasure Beach are able to ride the Big One with Richard and be part of history during the Big One Marathon Challenge.
