Blackpool Pleasure Beach Junior Board have taken a hands-on approach to this year’s Illuminations Switch On!
The teenagers were given a backstage tour of the Lightworks depot in Blackpool as the countdown to this year’s Lights extravaganza gathers pace.
And ahead of members of Team GB flicking the switch on August 31, members of the Junior Board were given the chance to have a go themselves.
The Junior Board at Blackpool Pleasure Beach is made up of seven girls and boys aged between 13 and 16 and meet regularly to discuss developments at the 42-acre attraction, brainstorm ideas and see how the park operates.
Their summer board meeting consisted of a tour of Lightworks with Head of Illuminations, Richard Ryan, a look at the Education Academy at the attraction and taking in the South Beach Show.
This year, Nickelodeon Land are joining the Illuminations with characters SpongeBob SquarePants, Dora The Explorer and all their friends having a section on the Promenade outside the attraction.
Junior Board member Tobie Phillips, 15, from Lytham, said: “It is a privilege to be able to sit on the Junior Board and discuss the future of Blackpool Pleasure Beach from a young person’s perspective.
“We are all looking forward to the Illuminations starting on August 31 and to be given a chance to have a look at where they are all designed and built was great.”
