David Cam – Group Company Secetary and Director

David joined Pleasure Beach aged 16 in our catering department as a counter assistant. After a successful season at the park he was soon in charge of his own unit. David also worked in the Treasury, collecting and counting money from around Pleasure Beach.

After a few seasons of working part time David went to university in London. In between his studies he decided to work for a year to save some money. David utilized his contacts at Pleasure Beach and was offered the role of personal assistant to the then Managing Director, Geoffrey Thompson.

On returning to study David received an offer from Geoffrey Thompson to go back to the Pleasure Beach and assume position of Assistant Company Secretary. He accepted and left for America on a fact finding mission working at a theme park in Colorado for 3 months and then traveling 20,000 miles visiting parks across the States.

Once back in the UK David returned to Pleasure Beach was promoted to Company Secetary in 1985 and then became a director of Pleasure Beach’s former parks, Pleasureland and Frontierland. In 1990 he was promoted to director of Pleasure Beach, a role which he still holds today.

Kimberly – Catering

“I had recently started college and wanted a job to help fund my way through college as well as gain some experience to add to my CV. I heard about the Job Shop in January and thought it would be a good place to look for a suitable job.

On visiting the event I was pleased to see lots of departments present offering roles and positions covering the whole park. It was great as I was able to chat with managers to find out which job would best suit me.

I choose to apply for catering and was excited to be offered the job that very day. They gave me all the information I needed and invited me back to the park for two days of training.

The training was really fun. We ran through everything we needed to know for the job role and I left feeling confident for opening day.

I love my job, as no two days are the same. I have various work locations, which range from selling fresh fruit on park to working at the bars in any of our theatres.

Its my first season at Pleasure Beach and I’m having a great time. I’ve made lots of new friends and find the work fits perfectly around my college”
