The Big Blue Hotel at Pleasure Beach, Blackpool has once again proved its design is above and beyond the call of nature by winning a nationally recognised Five Star ‘Loo of the Year Award’ for the second time since opening in 2003. The hotel became one of only 6 hotels in the country to gain the top-level award, backed by the British Toilet Association.

The annual Loo if the Year Awards recognise excellence in ‘away from home’ toilet provision. Inspectors visit the toilets unannounced and benchmark standards across a number of categories, including signage and customer communication, decor and maintenance, fixtures and fittings and overall standards of cleanliness, as well as any little extras that indicate a caring and conscientious management.

Judges commended the contemporary design of the toilets, which fits in with the overall ambience of the hotel, as well as the excellent standards of cleanliness maintained by Head Housekeeper Linda Cox and her team.

Hotel General Manager Stuart Tilt was ‘flushed’ with excitement over the award: ‘We are very happy to be one of very few hotels who have achieved such a high accolade.
