It’s Wrong Trousers Day!

Today is #WrongTrousersDay, which is a national event that aims to raise funds for children’s hospitals and hospices across the UK, and raises awareness for an important cause.

Just like the iconic Wallace & Gromit film, to participate all you have to do is wear your wackiest and weirdest trousers and contribute to raising awareness and funds.

It was back in 1997 that the first Wrong Trousers Day event was held, in support of sick children through raising funds for the Bristol Childrens’ Hospital. It was launched by The Grand Appeal, a fundraising charity, and Aardman Animation who are the legendary creators of the series Wallace and Gromit. Wrong Trousers Day is named after the film which was released in 1993 and follows the story of an evil penguin who takes interest in Gromit’s new ‘techno trousers’.

Blackpool Pleasure Beach is home to the world’s only Wallace & Gromit themed ride. It was opened in 2013 by CEO Amanda Thompson OBE, Deputy Managing Director Nick Thompson, along with Wallace & Gromit creator Nick Park. Guests board the ride in what resembles Wallace’s slipper, and are taken on a four minute family friendly journey, equipped scenes and audio from the Wallace and Gromit films A Grand Day Out, The Wrong Trousers, A Close Shave, The Curse of the Were-Rabbit and A Matter of Loaf and Death, where riders experience small drops and twists.

If you want to help us raise awareness, share your Blackpool Pleasure Beach Wallace & Gromit pictures on social media using #WrongTrousersDayBPB.
