What a difference a few weeks makes. From the moment Aviktas arrived at Pleasure Beach in mid-November, it’s been all systems go.
Four 16 tonne legs were erected, a maintenance platform was installed, and a temporary support beam put in place. Next the motor gear box and brake discs were added.
Finally, a crucial part of the build was fitted – the ride’s swing arm, to which the 40-seater pendulum will attach.
The structure currently stands at 88 feet, and will swing another 50 feet taller to 138 feet. The Blackpool skyline has officially been transformed.
And we’re still just getting started.
We’ve reached another major milestone in the construction of Aviktas – piling work is now complete.
Piling is the process of driving structural piles into the ground to create a strong foundation to build on, and it’s a major portion of the groundwork for our newest ride.
We’ve also announced our first ever Fan Club event focused on Aviktas. On Saturday 29th November, fans can get an exclusive look at our new ride with behind-the-scenes sneak peeks, never-before-seen updates, surprises, refreshments, and a chance to enjoy the park after dark.
Could you be one of the first to learn of Aviktas’ secrets?
More than 200 letters (some which came from as far as Ireland, Scotland and even Germany!) have been buried underneath the spot where Aviktas will stand.
We asked fans to send us their messages, which we added to a time capsule alongside memorabilia including ride parts, a document detailing what the world is like in 2025, a USB containing photos of staff, and blueprints for Aviktas.
The time capsule has been planted in the foundations of Aviktas before piling works begin, and the burial site’s exact location can be found using the What Three Words, ‘mash.comb.improving.’
We’ve dropped our first big hint about what fans can expect for Aviktas’ theming when it opens in 2026.
While we’re keeping tight-lipped on the details for now, you can head over to our social media pages to watch a video teasing the ride’s storyline.
You might also spy additions to the hoardings that surround the construction area, depicting a golden snake…
With demolition of the former Bowl-A-Drome now complete, we’ve released the first video of what Aviktas will look like.
Aviktas will be the tallest ride of its kind in the UK, and will drastically change Blackpool’s skyline.
For the first time, fans can appreciate the mammoth scale of the ride in new footage created by the park’s creative team.
Back in March, we announced ‘Project 2026’.
And while it’s a project for now, one day in the near future it’ll be a ride, and ‘Project 2026’ just doesn’t do this colossal structure justice.
So, we’re pleased to announce our gyro swing’s official name: Aviktas
After months of subterfuge and speculation, we lifted the lid on our exciting plans for Project 2026.
Preparations are already well underway, with the demolition of the former Bowl-a-drome area currently in progress.
