Walk the Big One XL

HERE’S WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
On the day of your climb

  • On arrival please meet at the Pleasure Beach South Gate Entrance located off the promenade, between the Boulevard Hotel and the Big Blue Hotel.
  • On and off-street car parking options are available nearby.
  • Please arrive 10 minutes before the experience start time to allow for a safety briefing and preparation for the walk.
  • Please bring your booking reference with you. This can be printed or on an email on your phone.
  • Allow 60 minutes for the completion of the full experience.
  • Harnesses, helmets and protective equipment will be provided. Sensible footwear or boots with good grip MUST be worn – these are not supplied.
  • Minimum age 12.
  • Minimum height 1.32m.
  • Maximum of 6 walkers per climb.
  • Enjoy the incredible views from 235ft!

HERE’S WHAT TO EXPECT

  • We start with a ‘Meet and Greet’ and presentation including a full safety briefing followed by kit-up training and checks on the use of the safety equipment.
  • You will then be escorted to the base of the Big One main pull-up where you will walk up to the very top of the Big One lift hill.
  • The ascent will pause at every 50ft to take in the surroundings views and provide an opportunity to hear more about the ride and details of how it works.
  • Once at the top of the 235ft lift hill there will be ample opportunity to take in the incredible views and secure those lasting pictures.
  • After descending the 420 steps with a pause at 100ft, your experience ends with a chance to buy any of the exclusive Walk The Big One merchandise.


Important information
This activity may not be suitable for everyone. The walk is a physically demanding activity including steep climbs, drops, heights and the surface can be uneven, dirty and slippery. Suitable sturdy footwear such as walking boots with a good grip must be worn in order to participate – these are not supplied.

Participants must attend and understand a safety briefing before attempting the experience, and must also successfully complete a practical training section on the lower part of the structure prior to commencing the walk. Participants must be able to walk unaided, hold onto a handrail and use our prescribed safety equipment and harnesses.

Weather can impact this experience and wet and/or windy or stormy weather may result in postponement or cancellation. In all instances, if the decision is made to cancel the experience we will attempt to contact participants as soon as possible.

Behind the Scenes Tour

In small guided groups, guests will visit some of Pleasure Beach’s lesser-known departments like wardrobe, they’ll have the opportunity to look underneath rides, they’ll be able to view the park from areas usually inaccessible to guests, and travel through secret tunnels beneath the park. 

Those who choose to book will also hear from staff, learn about Pleasure Beach’s rich history, and receive food, drink and a special certificate – all included in their ticket.

What’s included in the “All the Experiences” package?

Four incredible experiences in one package: Walk the Big One XL, Walk the Woodie, Behind the Scenes Tours, and Valhalla: The Walk Beyond. You’ll see the park from angles that most guests never do, from high above the skyline to deep within its most mysterious rides.

Absolutely! It’s the perfect Christmas present (or birthday surprise) for any thrillseeker. You’ll receive a digital gift certificate that can be emailed or printed, perfect for wrapping, gifting, or adding under the tree.

Once you’ve purchased the bundle, you’ll be sent instructions and links to book your preferred dates for each experience. Choose from any available sessions during the 2026 season.

Nope! You can spread them out across the season, it’s your adventure, your schedule.

Comfortable, sturdy footwear with a good grip is essential (no heels, sandals, or open shoes). Dress for the weather, some experiences take place outdoors and can get windy or cold at height.

All experiences include a full safety briefing and use of approved safety equipment. Our team are experts in keeping thrillseekers safe while ensuring you have an unforgettable time. This is part of the event, and you won’t have to attend a separate briefing.

Participants must be at least 12 years old and 1.32m tall, able to walk unaided, and in good health. Unfortunately, these experiences are not suitable for guests with certain medical conditions or for assistance animals. For specific information about your needs, please call our guest services team on 0333 003 2212.

We go ahead in most weather conditions (it just adds to the adventure!). If it’s unsafe to continue, for example, due to high winds, we’ll reschedule your experience or offer a partial refund for that element of your package if no alternative dates are available.

In some areas, yes, but only when our instructors say it’s safe to do so. Some locations, such as restricted backstage areas, are photo-free zones. Listen carefully to the team during your briefing.

Experiences are non-refundable except in the event of cancellation due to extreme weather or force majeure circumstances.

Full terms and conditions

Booking Your Adventure Dates:

This bundle allows you to choose your dates from the available scheduled experience events throughout the 2026 season.

These Experiences can be physically demanding and participants must only take part if they know (or should know) of no reason why they should not take part. The Experiences carry with them risks and to the fullest extent permitted by Law Blackpool Pleasure Beach Ltd accepts no liability for any loss or damage (of any kind direct or indirect) caused as a consequence of taking part and in particular no liability will be accepted for any damaged or lost personal possessions carried or taken during any of these experiences by a participant. Should any of the experiences take part in inclement weather then no warranty or guarantee is given as to a view from any position on a structure or other emotional experience.

The Walk The Woodie walk takes place on the structure of one of our wooden rollercoasters. Note: Only part of the circuit is walked during the experience. The surface can be uneven, steep, dirty and slippery. Exposed and rough edges are part of the nature of a wooden rollercoaster structure. Suitable sturdy boots must be worn.

Participants MUST:

1.                   Be at least 12 years of age and 1.32 metres in height.

2.                   Attend and understand a safety briefing before attempting each Experience, and arrive no later than 10 minutes before the stated time to start each Experience.

3.                   Understand and complete an Event Participation Agreement for each experience and if under 16 years of age have it signed by someone over 18 years on their behalf on every event.

4.                   Not attend under the influence of alcohol or non-prescribed drugs. We reserve the right to carry out tests and a refusal to undergo a test or a failure will prevent a person from taking part.

5.                   Comply at all times with all our instructions.

6.                   Be able to walk unaided and to hold onto a handrail and use our prescribed safety clothing and harnesses. Assistance animals are not permitted.

7.                   Not suffer from vertigo or any other illness which may affect a person’s ability to climb and/or put them or others at risk of harm. Should a person be taking any medication for any condition then he/she must consult with their doctor before taking part.

8.                   Not smoke, eat or drink during any of the experiences unless it forms part of the experience.

9.                   Not cause alarm, upset or distress to any other person during any of the experiences.

10.               The use of drones is NOT permitted. Any experience where a drone related to a participant is used will end immediately with no refund if a drone is present at any point during the experience. 

11.               Not take any article on any experience that may interfere with safety. Filming and photographs are permitted within the restrictions for each experience  as detailed by our instructors in each events safety briefing. At some locations filming and photographs are forbidden.

12.           Understand that Blackpool Pleasure Beach shall in its absolute discretion be entitled to refuse a person permission to take part in any or all the experienecs or require them to return to ground level at any time in the event that their safety or that of any other person is put at unnecessary risk or their behaviour is considered unacceptable.

13.            Note that the experiences may take place in inclement weather but should the weather be such that it is too dangerous for an experience to take place then it will be cancelled. In addition should Force Majeure occur then the experience will be cancelled. In the event of the former then an alternative date will be offered (if available) but if not and/or the latter occurs then a refund will be given. No refunds will be given in any other circumstances. It is the participants’ responsibility to check if any of the experiences is to take place in the event of inclement weather.

14.               During all the experiences, wear a suitable, sturdy pair of shoes with adequate grip on the soles – these are not provided.

15.               Not interfere with any part of any ride or its structure.

16.               Produce their confirmation to staff upon arrival at each experience. Without this, a participant will not be permitted to take part.
