About the role:

A new and exciting opportunity to join the construction department at Blackpool Pleasure Beach has become available. This is a developing role where you will be given the opportunity to expand your skills in construction, focusing on supporting areas of Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality (SHEQ)

 

Following approved training you will advise and support successful compliance within the departments and given the freedom to further develop within the building & maintenance disciplines.

 

Being the world’s most ride intensive amusement park & resort you will be enthusiastic and have the ability to adapt to a fast paced environment. The ideal candidate will be expected to engage with teams across the full asset profile including properties, hotels, theatres & other venues.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Full, accurate and timely completion of all maintenance logs, schedules and Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) to comply with legislation, insurance/ISO requirements and other audits.
  • Contact external contractors as required and accompany/assist them while on site.
  • Create & continuously update technical files for plant & equipment from liaison with suppliers, operator or own knowledge.
  • Carry out daily, weekly and monthly inspections and takes timely corrective action.
  • Report problems and any recommendations for improvements.
  • Carry out all minor repairs in relation to buildings and facilities, ensuring works are planned and executed in such a way so as to minimise risk or inconvenience to others.
  • Follow up on action points agreed on the Improvement Log within the agreed timescales.
  • Ensure Health, Safety & Quality procedures are understood & followed by team members & contractors working for the department.
  • Minor troubleshooting & maintenance for office & property equipment as required.
  • Review processes, procedures, systems, paperwork, etc. and make suggestions for improvement.
  • Communicate process changes to relevant parties in order that relevant follow up may be carried out, i.e. training etc.
  • Liaise with teams, operators and other stakeholders as necessary to clarify technical details and overcome problems.
  • Any other reasonable duties or project work which may be required by management from time to time.
 
Education:
  • City & Guilds or National Vocational Qualification level 2 or above – desirable but not essential
 
Job Knowledge:
  • Building and/or maintenance background
  • 4 years’ experience in similar or construction environment
 
Previous Experience:
  • Experience of working as a maintenance technician or similar
  • Supporting trade discipline experience
  • Fault finding
  • Problem solving
 
Training and Reaching Acceptable Competence:
  • Up to 12 months
 
Technical Skills:
  • Operating plant & machinery – Training provided
 
Requires an understanding of their own job including:

 

  • Operating machinery/power tools
  • Isolation procedures and best practise
  • Ability to work on own initiative
  • Analytical / problem solving skills
  • Carrying out reactive repairs in a safe manner
 

Requires the following supporting skills for the job

  • Good literacy and numeracy skills
  • Customer service mind-set
  • Good common sense
  • Ability to review, understand and communicate Risk Assessments & Method statements (RAMS)
  • Ability to make decisions based on safe working practices
 

Requires an understanding of areas of the work portfolio including:

 

  • Safe Systems of Work (SSoW)
  • Permit to Work PTW
  • Knowledge of Company areas, equipment and services to help communication.
 
Communications:
  • Working closely with contractors requires clear and accurate communication, also leading by example is essential to the job in conveying the right image of the Company.
  • Verbal, listening & writing skills are fundamental to the job
  • Ability and confidence to convey relevant information within the company
  • Contributes to team meetings & toolbox talks which includes some problem solving
 
Problem Solving and Decision Making:
  • Deals with day to day problems of a simple nature that require immediate attention
  • Liaise with managers to be able to deal with more complex issues
  • Seeks assistance with non-routine problems or where other Company functions are involved

  • Contributes ideas to facilitate problem-solving within the team
  • Applies new approaches to get maximum efficiency.
 
Leadership and People Responsibility:
  • Jobholder works for a lot of the time on his/her own, is therefore largely unsupervised and is responsible for the quality of his/her own work.
  • Jobholder acts in an overseeing capacity on the occasion that contractors are employed on the same job as the jobholder.
 
Working Environment:
  • Site wide, both inside & out all year around

 

Physical Effort:

  • Job holder must be physically fit as the rob requires a large amount of physical effort, including but not limited to, climbing, crawling, lifting and carrying on a daily basis
 
Mental Effort:
  • Accurate recording and communication of information
  • Comprehension of site is needed in communication with contractors, leaders and other site personnel
  • The jobholder is constantly under pressure to meet deadlines and multiple concurrent activities are normal.
